Account Rules & Community Guidelines
These Rules apply to Crosspad accounts and User Content and form part of the Terms of Service. They explain permitted conduct, content restrictions, reporting, moderation, and appeals. Enforcement is proportionate and is not limited to a fixed sequence of penalties.

- Your username must be between 3 and 30 characters
- Usernames may contain letters, numbers, and underscores only
- You may create only one account per person unless we authorize another account
- You must be at least 16 years old to create an account

1.2 Account Security

- You may not sell, transfer, or lend the account to another person
- You may not impersonate another person, artist, organization, or brand
- You may not use consumer account features for unauthorized commercial activity
2. Content Guidelines
2.1 Audio Samples and Kits
When uploading samples or creating kits, you must ensure that:
- You own the content or hold all licenses and permissions needed to upload and share it
- Samples do not reproduce protected songs, recordings, performances, or other works without authorization or a legal exception
- Content is not illegal, malicious, unlawfully harmful, or designed to interfere with a device or the Service
- Files comply with the technical size, duration, and format limits displayed by the Service
- Metadata accurately describes the content and does not conceal its origin or nature
See Terms of Service §4 for ownership and license terms.
2.2 Names, Descriptions, Categories, and Tags
- Do not use deceptive or materially misleading names or descriptions
- Do not use illegal hate speech, unlawful threats, or unlawfully discriminatory language
- Do not falsely imply endorsement by or affiliation with another person, artist, company, or brand
- Select categories and tags that reasonably describe the kit
- Do not insert spam, unrelated keywords, or links intended to manipulate discovery
2.3 Prohibited Content
You must not upload, publish, or distribute:
- Copyrighted or otherwise protected content without the required authorization or legal basis
- Child sexual abuse material or any sexual content involving minors
- Non-consensual intimate material or content that unlawfully violates privacy
- Illegal hate speech, credible threats, unlawful harassment, or content that incites violence
- Content that unlawfully promotes terrorism, criminal activity, fraud, or dangerous products
- Sexually explicit or pornographic material
- Malware, credential-stealing content, or files intended to exploit the Service or users
- Spam, deceptive schemes, or repetitive uploads intended to manipulate rankings or disrupt the Service
Content is not treated as illegal merely because it depicts or discusses an unlawful act where publishing it is lawful. We assess reports in context and under applicable law.
3. Community Behavior and Fair Use
3.1 Respect and Safety
- Do not harass, bully, stalk, threaten, or intimidate others
- Do not disclose another person's private information without a lawful basis
- Do not unlawfully discriminate based on protected characteristics
- Do not organize coordinated abuse, false reporting, or manipulation of other users
3.2 Service Integrity
- Do not abuse storage, bandwidth, APIs, or other platform resources
- Do not circumvent access controls, rate limits, or moderation measures
- Do not scrape, bulk-download, or bulk-upload through automated tools without permission
- Do not exploit vulnerabilities; report them responsibly instead
- Do not artificially inflate kit views, popularity, engagement, or recommendation signals
4. Intellectual Property
4.1 Your Content
- You retain ownership of original content you create and upload
- By publishing content, you grant the licenses described in the Terms of Service and allow other users to play and use it within the functionality and visibility settings of the Service
- Deleting or making content private ends future availability as described in the Terms, subject to temporary technical copies, prior lawful downloads, and legal obligations
4.2 Other Users' Content
- Do not copy, redistribute, sell, or claim ownership of another user's kits or samples unless the rights holder or law permits it
- A kit being publicly playable does not by itself grant a license to extract or redistribute its audio files outside the Service
- Report content you reasonably believe infringes your rights using the process below
5. Reporting Illegal or Rule-Violating Content
5.1 How to Report
Use an available in-product reporting control or the Contact Form. For an illegal-content notice, include enough information for us to assess and locate the content:
- A clear explanation of why you believe the content is illegal, including the relevant right or legal rule where reasonably possible
- The exact URL, kit identifier, username, or other information that identifies the content
- Your name and email address where required by law, except where the law permits an anonymous notice
- A good-faith statement that the notice is accurate and complete
A report about a breach of these Rules should identify the content or account and explain the relevant rule. Knowingly false, abusive, or repetitive reports may themselves violate these Rules.
5.2 How We Handle Reports
We process notices in a timely, diligent, objective, and non-arbitrary manner. We may request missing information where a notice is too vague to assess. Where contact details are provided and the Digital Services Act requires it, we will acknowledge receipt and communicate our decision and available redress options.
Reports are shared only with personnel and providers who need them for review, enforcement, safety, or legal compliance. We cannot promise absolute confidentiality where disclosure is required by law or necessary to protect rights or safety.
6. Moderation and Enforcement
6.1 Available Measures
Depending on the nature and circumstances of a violation, we may:
- Take no action where content is lawful and complies with these Rules
- Reduce visibility or restrict a feature
- Remove or disable access to specific content
- Issue a warning or require a correction
- Temporarily suspend an account or feature
- Permanently terminate an account for a severe or repeated material violation
- Preserve or disclose information where required by a binding legal obligation
We consider the severity, frequency, intent, reach, harm, user history, and whether a less restrictive measure would be effective. Immediate action may be taken where necessary to address illegal content, serious abuse, fraud, or a threat to security or safety.
6.2 Statements of Reasons
Where required by law, an affected user will receive a clear statement explaining:
- The content or account action taken and its territorial or visibility scope
- Whether the decision concerned illegal content or a breach of these Rules
- The facts and circumstances relied on, including whether a notice or automated tool contributed
- The legal or contractual ground for the decision
- Available internal and external appeal or redress options
We may limit a statement where disclosure is prohibited or would materially undermine security, fraud prevention, or an investigation.
6.3 Automated Tools
We may use automated tools to prioritize reports, detect spam or security threats, or assist human review. We do not currently use solely automated moderation decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects. Material context-dependent decisions are subject to human review where appropriate or required.
6.4 Appeals
If you believe a content or account decision was incorrect, submit an appeal through the Contact Form and identify the decision, content, account, and reason for the appeal. Appeals are reviewed by appropriately qualified personnel who were not solely responsible for the original decision where reasonably practicable.
Where Digital Services Act Article 20 applies to Crosspad, eligible complaints may be submitted electronically and free of charge for at least six months after the decision, and decisions will not be made solely by automated means. Other users may still request a review under this section.
7. Misuse of the Service
We may temporarily suspend processing of notices from people or entities that frequently submit notices that are manifestly unfounded. We may also suspend users who frequently provide manifestly illegal content. Before doing so, we assess the number and seriousness of the misuse, its proportion relative to legitimate activity, its consequences, and apparent intent, and we issue a prior warning where required.
